Purchasing a shuffleboard table can be a daunting task, but with a bit of research you can be confident in your decision to bring this fun and attractive piece of furniture into your game room.  Gold Star Games has created this buying guide to help you make an informed purchase.

Which shuffleboard table style is right for you?  The Level Best, Woodbridge, and Challenger give you standard, clean, and appealing cabinets with a level playing surface.  The Cushion and Venture Classic Shuffleboard tables enhance the cabinet woodworking and use three inch hard rock maple play surfaces.  The Ambassador and Grand Deluxe are premium shuffleboard tables used in national championships and endorsed by shuffleboard hall-of-famers.  Your preference in appearance and considering prices ranging from $900 to $6,000 are factors to consider in your shuffleboard table choice.  

Shuffleboard table size

After the picking the best shuffleboard model, it is time to pick the size.  The standard size shuffleboard tables for the home is 9 or 12 feet.  Sports bars have tables 16 to 20 feet in length.  The key to picking out the size is to make sure you adding 2-3 feet for playing space to each end of the table.  This ensures the shuffleboard player will have enough room to make the perfect slide across the table.  We always recommend doing five minutes of measuring before deciding on the size of your table.  We have advised many people purchasing a shuffleboard table for their residence to consider the 9-foot table, as it is always better to have plenty of space rather than not enough. 


Shuffleboard accessories

A quality table is obviously the central piece for your shuffleboard preparation, but a few accessories are essential for play, and a few others are optional choices to complete your game room enviroment. 
  • Weights (also called pucks).  Slide weights with a 2" diameter down the table to score.  Eight weights (four red, four blue) are included with each table purchased at Gold Star Games.
  • Speed Wax.  Saw dust, sand, or tiny silicon beads create a fast ball-bearing surface for your weights to slide along.
  • Pins.  Vary your game with bowling pins placed at the end of the table.
  • Bumpers.  Just like bumpers in a bowling alley, bumpers are great for players who can't seem to keep the weights out of the gutters.  Also a method of adding variety to your game, such as striking the bumpers a certain number of times in order to score.
  • Shuffleboard Sweep.  To clean your table free of dust and old wax, a sweep is a brush made especially for your shuffleboard table.
  • Table cover.  Kids, pets, parties, or for any reason that you need to protect your table, the brown naugahyde covers are fitted to your shuffleboard table.  
  • Scorers.  Three different types of scorers for our three styles of tables.  The Standard comes with a number slide, the Sophistication with an abacus scoring rail, and the Pro with an overhead electronic scoreboard.
  • Cleaner Polish.  Liquid cleaner to rub across the playfield for speed and shine.

The Woodbridge and Greenwich tables can be delivered inside and assembled.  Venture shuffleboard tables and the Level Best table come only with curbside delivery, and we can help you find a local company if you need assembly service.  To receive curbside delivery :
  • Have 3-5 people ready.  Shuffleboard tables weigh from 250 to 900 lbs. depending board length ranging 9'-22'. 
  • Secure legs to table while cradle is upside down.  Use several people to turn table upright when complete.
  • Call for availability of assembly service if you prefer a hands-free approach.
